A comfortable Victorian country house set deep in the Surrey Hills. Formerly the scene of social meetings between Tennyson, Darwin, Conan Doyle and Shaw, it has been a nationally respected music school for over forty years. Its Recital Series has featured globally respected names that include Jack Brymer, Marisa Robles, Antony Hopkins, Peter Katin, Tommy Reilly, the Coull String Quartet, Michael Collins, Dame Emma Kirkby…

Residential accommodation within the house is possible, with some students visiting daily or making their own arrangements in local hotels. There are extensive gardens and a heated outdoor swimming pool.

Now in its nineteenth year, the Hindhead Piano Course enjoys the atmosphere of a relaxed house party with masterclasses, presentations, Q and A sessions, recitals by students and tutors, and delicious home cooked meals. This is an excellent course for observers and performers alike – and the loyal group of regular students are quick to welcome newcomers.

The 2021 course is based upon the works of Ludwig van Beethoven and English piano music. Performers are encouraged to bring two pieces for the masterclasses (not necessarily by Chopin) and can provide a further piece for the final concert. There are a limited number of opportunities for extended student recitals.
